How much can you eat egg shells. Easily digested calcium from eggshell. Instruction

Eggs are a product that is used almost all the time in food: even small children can cook eggs, not to mention the many dishes in which eggs are included in the recipe. Every day, a huge amount of eggshell is thrown around the world, and people rarely think about where to use it. At best, it is added to feed by the same chickens, as well as other animals, in order to improve their growth and health; the shells are applied to the soil — especially acidic — as fertilizer; in the old days the housewives used it as bleach, adding to the water where the white linen was boiling.

Benefits and composition of eggshell

However, if the eggshell is good for soil and animals, why doesn’t a person use it to improve his health? In fact, it is used, but not in official medicine, but in popular recipes, most of which have already been forgotten.

The ancient healers were well aware of the properties of the eggshell: they noticed that the animals who eat birds' eggs eat them with the shell; later, when the bird was domesticated, the peasants also noticed that the ferrets and foxes who had entered the henhouse did not leave the shell. Modern zoologists often point out that animals eat up all of it, without a trace, but the contents of an egg can not fully finish it: proteins, monkeys, and even dogs do this. Especially love the female shell, and this already means that it contains a lot of digestible calcium - it is clear that it is necessary for carrying and feeding young, and the man is no exception.

What elements most often do not have enough pregnant and lactating women? Calcium and iron, and doctors prescribe it to them in tablets and injections, but the body absorbs natural calcium much more efficiently - European scientists have been conducting research on this topic since the middle of the 20th century.

The results of studies conducted in Hungary are amazing: the eggshell was an ideal source of natural calcium, but Hungarian scientists did not use it in practice - everything remained “on paper”. However, scientists from Holland, Belgium and the United States conducted official clinical trials, and it was where they were needed in an orthopedic hospital that the uniqueness of the properties of the eggshell was confirmed.

Easily assimilable calcium in its composition is about 93%, and there are other minerals necessary for human health: phosphorus, magnesium, silicon, potassium, sodium, iron, etc. Besides them, the shell is rich in amino acids and other valuable components - compared to calcium preparations synthesized artificially, it is much safer, and most importantly - it is easier for the body to accept what is balanced by nature itself.

The composition of the shell is similar to the bones and teeth of a person, and it helps the bone marrow to produce blood cells, so it is especially useful for young children - their body is actively formed, and it needs minerals all the time.

How to take eggshells

Those who decide to take eggshells like    prophylactic   it is worth doing it 2 times a year, in courses of 2-3 weeks, usually 1 tsp. in a day; women should also take it during pregnancy and breastfeeding. To children under 6 years old, give, mixing in food (for example, porridge or cottage cheese during breakfast), 1.5 - 3 g of powder - this will prevent rickets, anemia and other diseases.

How to cook egg shell powder

Prepare the powder from the shell is easy, but it must be properly processed. You can use only fresh eggs. Egg should be washed properly in warm water with soap, pour the contents out of it, and rinse the shell well and boil for 5 minutes. You can use the shell of boiled eggs, but the effect of its use will be weaker. Boiled shell should be thoroughly dried for several hours, remove the thin film and grind into a fine powder in a mortar.

Belgian experts believe that only the shell of raw eggs has a curative effect, but there is a serious risk of becoming infected with salmonella, and the harm from this disease is many times greater than the benefit from the use of the shell. To be sure of the safety of the funds, you need to take home eggs, knowing that the chickens are completely healthy. The eggs are washed with a brush in warm water and soap, and then the shells are soaked for 30 minutes in a solution of baking soda - 1 tsp. in a glass of water. Wash soda with hot boiled water, peel off the film, and dry the shell: either in a warm oven or in a griddle at 50 ° C, but it is possible at room temperature for a few days. The finished powder can be stored in a tightly closed glass jar in a dark, dry place.

What diseases can be treated with egg shell

Bone fractures

It is possible to significantly accelerate the accretion of bones in case of fractures, if you take 1 tsp 3 times a day. shell powder. The powder should be stirred in a glass of tea or plain water, and drink everything until it has settled to the bottom; children up to 14 years old need to drink this tea 2 times a day. Continue until the bone has completely fused.

With osteoporosis

With osteoporosis, you need to conduct courses of treatment regularly, every year, courses of 3-4 weeks. Every day, after 10-20 minutes after dinner, take 1/2 tsp. powder, squeezed it with milk, kefir or juice. You can mix the powder with salt in the ratio of 1: 2, and salt the resulting mixture with food after cooking - per day you can consume up to 1 tsp. mixes.

Heartburn

There are many folk remedies for the treatment of heartburn and eggshell is one of them. In case of heartburn 2.5 tsp. the powder is thoroughly stirred in milk (1-1 / 2 cup) and drunk. To get rid of heartburn completely, you need to take it daily, for 6-8 months - this course in parallel will help alleviate other existing diseases.

For stomach pains

You can take the powder and pain in the stomach: 10 days 1 tsp. once a day before meals - the effect is similar to the action of antacids. In this case, the shells need to be roasted until it becomes slightly yellow.

With diathesis

In many popular recipes, lemon juice is also mentioned, but it is not necessary to add it to the powder - calcium is perfectly absorbed by the body and without it. However, there is a recipe in which juice is obligatory - that's why people decided that it should be added anyway. Fresh lemon juice is mixed with powder in the treatment of diathesis in children - 1/4 tsp. mixed with 1 tbsp. juice, then with the cooled boiled water 1: 1, and give the child after a meal. Continue treatment for 1-3 months - the effect is very persistent, and subsequently the diathesis will not manifest itself, even with the use of those products that always caused it. Small children (from 6 months to a year) are given a little powder at the tip of a knife.

If there is an opportunity, it is better to use the quail eggshell - it is somewhat more useful, but it is more difficult to get a powder out of it: the eggs are small and the shells are thin. So chicken eggs are the easiest and most convenient option. Use duck eggs and geese should not be - on their shells often live pathogens of salmonellosis and other infections.

The color of the shell does not matter - it can be white or brown shades.

Be careful!   You can not be treated with egg shells in the presence of cancer.

As is known, such an essential mineral as calcium plays an important role in the human body. First of all, this substance is involved in the construction of bone tissue, as well as teeth, and in the formation of nail plates.

In general, it affects the development of the whole organism, and also regulates the functions of many organs. Calcium deficiency can be signaled by the first signs of osteoporosis, rickets, osteochondrosis, muscle spasm, as well as depression.

When the doctor detects calcium deficiency in a patient, he recommends that he purchase quite expensive medications containing calcium, but, you can use the usual shell of chicken eggs. This method is absolutely not new, it has long been used in traditional medicine.

Eggshell - Calcium Source

Consider the composition of the eggshell. According to A.L. Shtele, it contains not only easily digestible calcium, but also other mineral elements that are important for a person, for example, magnesium, phosphorus, silicon, sodium, potassium, iron, sulfur, aluminum and other components.

In total, about fourteen important chemical elements were found in the shell, without which the normal functioning of the body is impossible. The protein contains essential amino acids, for example, methionine, cystine, lysine, isoleucine.

Consequently, the eggshell can be used for medicinal purposes, and it is considered the most balanced and at the same time a natural remedy, in comparison with the usual calcium preparation, which also sometimes contains vitamin D3.

How to eat eggshells?

This is a fairly simple technique, and the use of the shell will not cause a person any difficulties. You will need fresh chicken eggs, and it doesn’t matter what color they are, so they can be white or orange.

They need to be carefully washed in warm running water with soap, and then placed in a bowl for five minutes, they are not recommended to cook more time, as in this case, the shell will lose many useful substances.

When they are completely cooled, it is necessary to carefully remove the shell, and it must be freed from the thin film shell, since it does not have any benefit. After the product is cleaned, use white and yolk for culinary purposes, for cooking any dishes, for example, add them to the salad, or simply eat them with salt.

A carefully removed shell must be ground to powder. To do this, you can use the usual mortar and pestle, but the grinder is not recommended, because in it, in the process of grinding, there will be a loss of many useful substances.

Of course, it is rather long to grind the shells in the mortar, but this will help to preserve as much healing substances as possible. After the powder is sufficiently crushed, it is recommended to add a couple of drops of fresh lemon juice.

The daily dosage is half a teaspoon of shell, which can be mixed with a small amount of low-fat cottage cheese. It is recommended to take such a mixture immediately after waking up in the morning, for about two or three weeks, it all depends on the state of health.

Within one year, it is advisable to hold no more than two such courses, the best of all, if you use it in the first spring month, as well as at the end of autumn, because at this time the body most needs calcium.

It is recommended to store the finished chopped egg shells in a dry paper bag or in a glass jar in a dark place, for example, in a regular cupboard.

It is better not to prepare it in large quantities for future use, since the powder will lose its beneficial properties over time, therefore, it will not have a positive effect on the human body.

It is worth knowing that the eggshells of domestic chickens are not recommended to be used if the birds were in the contaminated area, or such harmful substances were present in the diet of chickens.

So, the introduction of this crushed product into food showed a high therapeutic activity and the absence of bacterial contamination, which cannot be said about the shell of duck eggs, as it is often infected, and therefore unsuitable for use.

About the effect of eggshell on children's body

Chicken shells are especially useful for small children, starting from a year, you can enter it in their diet. Since the process of formation of bone tissue, which require the uninterrupted flow of this mineral substance, is intensively

It is often included in baby food, as it has a beneficial effect on the child's body with rickets and anemia. A child from 6 months to one year is given such powder on the tip of a knife, and then to three years of age - twice as much. Of course, it is better to consult a pediatrician first.

Conclusion

Of course, this product is useful for the body, but it is better if you consult with a doctor before taking it.

Everyone knows that we need calcium for bones and teeth. But the role of calcium does not end there. We need calcium for good blood clotting, for the transmission of nerve signals, for muscle contractions and for regulating heart rhythm.

Independently, our body does not produce calcium. And we lose it every day - with skin cells, with nails, hair, sweat, urine, etc. With a deficiency - calcium is taken from the bones of the body.

There are many foods that are sources of calcium for our body.
But today I want to dwell on the eggshell.

Why an eggshell?

Eggshell is one of the best natural sources of calcium.

Eggshell is mainly calcium carbonate. Calcium carbonate is also in the shell of oysters and animal bones. But the above-mentioned (last two) sources of calcium carbonate lose to the eggshell, as they usually contain more heavy metals. And the calcium contained in the eggshell is one of the best forms of calcium after milk. I want to say at once that if you believe that you get all the calcium with milk, then the quality of milk should be taken into account and you should: a) look at what the cow ate and where - now they are fed soy and corn, but this does not give special nutritional value to milk , do not even hope for at least some decent content of vitamins and minerals) to avoid commercially produced milk in a mandatory manner. To absorb the creamy fat, we need calcium. In the process of milk metabolism, one fat molecule "sticks" to the 2nd calcium molecules. As a result, you can even hurt yourself, since calcium will be sucked out of the reserves (bones, nails, teeth) only in order to absorb this milk.
(I ask you not to confuse commercially produced with unpasteurized home-made milk (which I drink with pleasure every day) - there the story is completely different.)

In general, I always pay attention not just to the amount of any vitamin indicated on the label, but to how effectively my body can absorb it. Calcium is now added to many foods, but this does not mean that your body will get any benefit from it (for more information on the bioavailability of vitamins, see “These vitamins are dangerous for your health”). The egg shell contains balanced calcium, which is closer to the microchemistry of our body, therefore it is absorbed and absorbed easier and better.
In addition to calcium in the eggshell, it will hold about 30! other minerals (magnesium, copper, boron, silicon, manganese, iron, zinc and others.)

So, for the preparation of natural useful and bioavailable calcium, we need just an ordinary eggshell. Eggs can be of any bird, the main thing is to be as homely as possible, natural, organic, cage-free, it is desirable that their feed be organic, without soy and GMOs. The better the bird's food was, the more benefits will be in the eggshell.

How to make calcium from eggshell

1. Rinse the shell under water. We leave the white film (!) - there are also many useful substances in it.

  3. Dry. In the sun, in the fresh air, on a tray, on e towels - it does not matter.

4. Grind as small as possible! in a coffee grinder, blender, combine, etc. Of all the possible adaptations, I still recommend using a coffee grinder - it finely grinds. First, the shell should be slightly broken by hand, and then grind.

I do not have a coffee grinder (blender, combine)
No big deal, this is the only way to grind the shell. It can be put in a plastic bag and stretch with a rolling pin. Powder will accumulate at the bottom of the bag.

To make it convenient to take, I make calcium in capsules.

On iherb, I take these capsules - the size is good, they are easily ingested.

I leave another part of the crushed shell in a powder state - it can be used for face and body scrubs, mixed with oils.

How much calcium to take?

The shell of 1 medium egg = about 1 tsp. powder = 700-800 mg of calcium.

For most people, you need about 400 mg of calcium per day.

That is about 1/2 tsp per day. But the intake should be divided into 2 parts by 1/4 tsp, because at a time our body can absorb no more than 500 mg of calcium at a time.

For pregnant women the dose is twice as much, for children it is two times less.

And here again there is no standardized data, it all depends on your diet !!! If you drink a couple of glasses of raw milk during the day or eat canned sardines, eat soups and traditional bone broths, then your doses will be much less. Depending on what you ate during the day, additional calcium may not be needed at all. So first of all - listen to your body!

When to take calcium?

Should be taken with food in the morning, for better absorption. And remember that calcium is best absorbed with vitamins D and A, which are found in coconut oil, liver, fermented cod oil, butter and other products.

And do not forget about vitamin C, it also greatly improves the absorption of calcium.
Calcium citrate is better suited to those who have any problems with inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract or some other imbalances that block calcium absorption. The advantage of calcium citrate is that it is not necessary to take it with food, as it is better absorbed.

  How to make calcium citrate?

The principle is simple - we take with lemon juice (acid) dissolve calcium from the shell.

Option 1

1. Mix 1/2 tsp of minced eggshells with freshly squeezed (fresh, sure, or the reaction may not work) the juice of half a lemon.
The mixture will begin to bubble.
  2. Leave the mixture at room temperature for 6 to 12 hours (but not more than 12).
Take 1/2 - one teaspoon with water.

  Option 2

1. Soak completely one clean, whole, raw, homemade egg in freshly squeezed lemon juice. Preferably in glassware.
  2. Lightly cover and refrigerate for 48 hours. Shake the container several times a day until bubbles form.
  3. Remove the egg after about 48 hours when the mixture stops bubbling.
Take 1/2 tsp (and a little more) once a day.

Option 3

1. Soak completely 3 pure whole raw homemade eggs in freshly squeezed lemon juice. The most convenient way to use a glass jar with a lid.
  2. Tighten the lid of the jar tightly and refrigerate for 48 hours. Shake the container several times a day until bubbles form.
  3. As soon as the mixture stops bubbling, remove the eggs. It will be necessary to take out very carefully. Eggs can even be eaten afterwards.
Liquid, i.e. calcium citrate, is taken 1/2 to 1 teaspoon per day. You should start with a small dose and gradually increase.

Option 4 - for very lazy

1. Take 1/2 teaspoon of our powdered eggshell
  2. Add lemon juice 2-3 drops and swallow. Everything

Option 5 - for very - very lazy
or urban - take ready calcium citrate on iherb

My personal choice falls on Solgar Calcium Citrate - I just really trust them.

Together with calcium at the same time should be taken magnesium. The proportion is 1: 1 or 2: 1. Why and why - I will tell you next time.

Long heard of it. I want to try. I'll start with the dogs, because on the third day I will understand the effect.

A natural and cheap source of calcium is calcium from the eggshell. In combination with magnesium and vitamin D, shell calcium is ideal for our body. The main advantages of such calcium are low levels of calcium in the blood and a high percentage of digestibility. Eggshell calcium can be prepared at home.

Homemade calcium shells

Daily dose from 400 to 2000 mg per day (nursing mothers). How many things have been written and said about him, but the culture of eating foods rich in calcium is zero ... "Drink, children, milk" - well, well, we drink 2 liters per day (it is in this volume that the daily dose of calcium, which is absorbed in view of the loss ), and we will get diarrhea and over-the-counter cholesterol. Recent years of research, moreover, show that milk calcium is poorly absorbed (10% -30%). And what to do with a huge amount of milk protein, the processing of which consumes calcium from the body? What do those who can not tolerate lactose? Like a billion Chinese?

The best source of calcium is plant food. Calcium from a vegetable source is well absorbed and there are no side effects, unlike milky calcium.

Calcium Products Rating:

  1. Soy. 100g - 258 mg of calcium with the ideal ratio of calcium-phosphorus. Our cows, by the way, are fed with rapeseed and soy (Ukrainian cows).
  2. Cauliflower and broccoli.
  3. All green parts of vegetables and herbs - parsley (245 mg), dill, tops, spinach.
  4. Beet.
  5. Bran, sesame, garlic and onions.
  6. Almond (260 mg)
  7. Mineral water.

Milk and meat does not solve the problem of calcium deficiency. Vegans and vegetarians are deeply advanced on this issue - their bone tissue is healthier than that of meat eaters. Still much spoils the picture of salt, which removes calcium and magnesium from the body. In turn, the starch from vegetables helps calcium to digest. In general, we can eat a daily minimum of calcium, if you really try. But if you need an additional source of calcium, such as a nursing mom or baby athlete? What calcium to choose  - calcium gluconate, calcium hydroxide, aspartate, citrate? And there is coral calcium and this is not the end of the list.

The eggshell contains 27 trace elements that are very close in structure to our teeth and bones. The website of the National Center for Biotechnology has a publication on the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis with eggshell (in English). Homemade calcium is very easy to do with your own hands.

How to make a calcium drug from eggshell?

We are suitable shell of any poultry - quail, ducks, chickens, geese. It is advisable that the eggs were from free-range poultry. The amount of calcium in the shell directly depends on what the chicken feeds on. Before breaking an egg, wash it thoroughly, so that you do not suffer from washing the shell. Collect the shells from 10 eggs, store in the refrigerator.
When the required amount is collected, rinse them in hot water, the membrane does not need to be removed. Now the shell must be disinfected.

There are at least 4 disinfection options:

  • Boiling
  • Microwave
  • Oven
  • Hydrogen peroxide

When boiling part of the calcium is washed into the water (at least as they say). You can water the flowers with this water, you can cook soups on it if you wish. Boil the shells for 3 minutes, throwing it into the boiling water. I prefer the microwave option. There are serious studies proving that microwaves kill most of the “kitchen” bacteria within 2 minutes (more precisely, 2 to 10 minutes), so you can dry the shell in the microwave without boiling and loss of calcium. You can also dry and decontaminate the shell in the oven - 200 degrees 10 minutes. I read that some people wash the shells in hydrogen peroxide.

Before grinding, the shell must be completely dry. The first grinding can be done in a blender by loading crushed shells into the bowl - just remember it in the bag. More fine grinding needs to be achieved with the help of a coffee grinder. The smaller, the better. Store the powder in a tightly closed jar in a dark place.

How to cook calcium carbonate from carbonate

One teaspoon with a hill contains about 1000 mg of calcium carbonate. Calcium carbonate does not suit us  - if you take it in its pure form, it will be deposited in the form of stones in the kidneys, spurs, calcinated vessels. Calcium citrate suits us(using citric acid) or calcium acetate(using vinegar). We can get both types of calcium from calcium carbonate.

Recipe for citrate and calcium acetate:

  1. 1 teaspoon without a hill of ground shells (600-700 mg of calcium) pour into a glass.
  2. Add a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar (to get acetate) or half lemon juice (citrate). Mix, the mixture will begin to bubble.
  3. Let the mixture stand for a couple of hours, you can do it overnight, but do not let the reaction work for more than 12 hours. I met the recommendations to take immediately, without allowing the reaction to end.
  4. Add a little water to the mixture, shake and drink. It is possible to accept once, it is possible to divide reception for 2 or 3 times.

Found a video workshop on the preparation of calcium citrate.

How is calcium absorbed?

For the absorption of calcium, magnesium and vitamin D are needed. With vitamin D, everything is simple - it is synthesized in the epidermis under the influence of ultraviolet radiation. Simply put, 15 minutes of walking in the sun (as Dr. Komarovsky says) and the deficit is filled. However, vitamin D is deficient in both Americans and Russians, as well as Hindus, who have enough sun.

Food sources of vitamin D:  sea kale and algae, fish oil, butter (minimal), herring, yolk.

Magnesium is much more complicated, but there are 2 excellent ways, which are a separate article with detailed instructions. Thus, having minimum expenses, we provide ourselves and our family with the most important minerals.

Update 15.11. 2016

I continue to follow the publications and news in this area and I understand that everything is not so simple. The most recent independent studies prove the failure of women to take calcium + D3 as prevention of osteoporosis during and after menopause. Osteoporosis is associated with hormones, and not a lack of minerals. In contrast, calcium from drugs can calcify vascular fatty plaques and exacerbate other problems.

Once again, I am convinced of the simple truth - you need to eat as varied as possible, always eat different cereals (and not just macaroons and rice), try mixing pumpkin, celery, kohlrabi in salads (just an example).

In short, you need to make yourself any appointments with great care. Take care of your health and keep your mind "cold"!

If people knew exactly what they lack, then calcium would take one of the leading positions in this anti-hit parade. Calcium deficiency can be compensated by taking pharmaceutical preparations, but this is not always possible. First, calcium is not absorbed in all forms. Secondly, the prices of high-quality calcium supplements bite so much that instead of one jar of pills, it is better to buy food for a week. And it really is better! For example, combine the useful with the useful and take the egg shells as a source of calcium.
Calcium in the eggshell is contained in the natural state, which is best absorbed by the human body. You can take calcium gluconate, combine calcium intake with vitamins and other minerals, follow a diet - but it is much easier to take calcium from the eggshell, as our grandparents did. Even today, doctors advise taking egg shells for osteoporosis, pregnancy, and simply increased stress.

Why take eggshells? The composition and use of egg shells
The egg shell is its “armor” protecting the precious contents from external threats. The infinite wisdom of nature has made the shell durable outside and fragile from the inside, so that at the right time the chicken hatched out of the egg without any problems. This seeming fragility and genuine resilience was noticed by our distant ancestors, who endowed eggs with sacred meaning and tried to borrow its strength, taking eggshell from food, adding it to drinks and drugs. Today, thanks to the achievements of science, one could easily do without this “obscurantism” and take pharmaceutical preparations of calcium. Nevertheless, modern people continue to take eggshells. Why?

  • The egg shell is 93% calcium carbonate - the optimal form for the human body to assimilate. In addition to calcium salts, amino acids and about 30 other vital trace elements, including iron, potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, sodium, silicon, are found in the shell.

  • Calcium in the bone tissue, teeth and muscles of people is contained in the same form as in the shell of eggs. Accordingly, the metabolism is easier to take it and send in the right direction. Therefore, egg shells are taken for arthrosis, osteoporosis, for heartburn, for the rapid healing of bone fractures and other injuries.

  • Unlike artificially created compounds, calcium from the shell of eggs is guaranteed safe and does not provoke side effects from the intake. That is why doctors advise pregnant women to take eggshells. It is also prescribed to children during active growth. Oncological diseases are the only contraindication to taking egg shells because of its high biological activity.

  • The effectiveness of the eggshell is confirmed by amazingly different and unrelated sources. Thus, it has long been noted that animals, especially pregnant females, eat eggs along with the shell, and the egg shell introduced into the ground as fertilizer significantly improves the yield. Later, the unique properties of the shell were officially confirmed by studies conducted by biologists in the United States, Belgium, Hungary and the Netherlands.

  • Calcium deficiency in the body is fraught with a variety of metabolic disorders, from rickets in children, spinal curvature and anemia to weak immune protection, hair loss, brittle nails, frequent appearance of herpes on the lips and even poor resistance to radiation effects in generally healthy people. In order not to experiment with pharmaceutical nutritional supplements and not to run to the doctor at the first problems, it is better to take the eggshell as a source of calcium.
  • How to take calcium from eggshell? Egg Shell Cooking
No one wants to gnaw eggshells - and if he tried, it would do more harm than good to the teeth. Calcium is absorbed and benefits from the inside, you need to take it in a prepared form. Therefore, the egg shells are crushed and powder is prepared from it, which does not change the chemical properties, but makes it suitable for human consumption if the powder from the shell is prepared correctly:

  • How to choose eggs? White or brown? The color of the shell can be ignored: its pigmentation does not depend on calcium in the composition and does not affect it. As for origin, quail eggs are considered to be more useful, but their shell is more difficult to use. At the same time, chicken eggs are slightly inferior to quail, so it is easiest to cook powder from chicken eggshell.

  • Eggs need to be washed, because the pathogens live exactly on the shell. Usually, this is enough warm water and soap. But if you plan to give the eggshells to the child, it is better to sterilize the eggs in boiling water for 5 minutes. This does not destroy the necessary mineral compounds, but guarantees the bacteriological safety of the eggs. True, cooking them hard-boiled is not worth it - the shells of raw eggs are healthier.

  • Separate the shell from the contents without removing the white film on its inner surface. Rinse the shells and place in the open air or in a non-hot oven so that they dry completely. The size of the fragments does not matter, but it is better to break them with your hands for the convenience of further grinding.

  • The method and / or tools for grinding egg shells are not fundamental. You can use a mortar with a pestle, a coffee grinder or a blender. You can even lay the shells in a strong package and walk on it with a rolling pin. The main thing is to make the powder as small as possible - the convenience of its reception depends on it.

  • Store the finished powder in a tightly closed jar, preferably a glass, in a dry place. A more interesting way: to pack crushed egg shells into gelatin capsules, exempt from the pharmaceutical preparation or empty, bought specially.
  • From the shell of a chicken egg of 1-2 grades, about 1 teaspoon of powder containing at least 700 mg of calcium is obtained. Of larger duck and goose eggs, the output of the powder is, of course, different, not to mention the giant ostrich egg. But it is better to limit to chicken and / or quail eggs, because all others are much more common salmonella.

How to take eggshells with food?
The dosage and rules for taking eggshells are simple, but differ slightly depending on the purpose. An average adult needs about 400 mg of calcium per day, provided that he has other sources of calcium besides egg shell (dairy products, fish, broths, etc.). Children from 1 year old to school will need half of this dose, that is, 200 mg of calcium per day. Eating disorders and / or malfunctions in the body require an individual approach. Here are the most common indications and instructions for using calcium powder from egg shells:

  • For the prevention of calcium deficiency, chopped egg shells are added to any dishes and / or drinks by a full teaspoon. The most convenient way to use for this purpose is cottage cheese, cereal, muesli, yogurt. Or simply scoop up the powder with a spoon, add a few drops of lemon juice and eat: vitamin C improves calcium absorption.

  • For fractures of small bones, eggshells are taken with drinks: water, tea, milk or juice. Adults need to dissolve 1 teaspoon of powder in a glass of liquid and drink three times a day, for children under 14 years old, take twice daily until recovery.

  • In osteoporosis, egg shells are taken in courses once a year for a month. Half an hour after the last meal in the evening, half a teaspoon of the powder is washed down with milk, kefir, or another dairy product.

  • In case of gastritis, egg shells are fried in a dry frying pan to a pale-yellow color and taken 1 teaspoon on an empty stomach for 7-10 days for an antacid effect (neutralizing acid) and reducing pain.

  • For burns, use the finest egg shell powder. If you put a blister on the burn site, it will quickly open and heal with less complications.
  • A pregnant woman is prescribed an egg-shell by a doctor - it is better not to experiment and follow its instructions exactly. Moreover, among the recommendations for taking eggshells you can find not only rational, but also very exotic recipes. For example, the authors of the old medical practitioners strongly advise the use of the shell of the very egg from which the chicken had just hatched.

Although there are bright thoughts in these books. For example, the information that taking eggshells is desirable in the morning, unless there are other specific instructions, and combine it in the diet with butter, cod liver, coconut and / or other vegetable fats. The latest laboratory tests have confirmed and explained these rules: it is all about vitamins D and A, which improve the metabolism of calcium in the body. All this once again proves how closely intertwined the methods of traditional medicine are with modern science, and that the eggshell is valued as a source of calcium for a reason. Take the egg shells right and stay healthy!
